I have a preschooler who is anxious to learn how to spell and write her name! With "transportation" on our minds this month at momstown, we decided to make a Name Train! My daughter loved to make her name rocket ship, so we was really excited to write her letters on the train "cars" and glue them on the tracks in the right order!
Materials:
craft sticks (you can paint them or leave them natural)
construction paper in various colours
glue
scissors
markers or pencil crayons
Directions:
1. Trace squares onto the construction paper.
2. Ask your preschooler to write a letter of their name onto each square. If this is too challenging, you can use dots to outline the letter and ask your child to trace them.
3. Make the "tracks" on your paper by breaking up popsicle or craft sticks and glue them horizontally and vertically.
4. Help your child glue their letters in the right order, as the cars on the train. You can even join them with a line when you're done.
Once you master your child's first name, try to do this activity with your other family names or last name!
